This project was for the construction of a 410-space, 3-level pre-cast parking garage with two elevators, curtain wall, aluminum clad metal panels, landscaping, sidewalks, and the relocation of the main roadway and primary electrical feed to the main facility duct bank. Also included was the demolition of the existing parking lots. During construction, parking lots were relocated while we expanded the existing parking lots. The main loop road around the facility was also relocated to ensure easy access to the main hospital entrance. Parking Garage – SOF Acquisition Center
MacDill AFB, FL
$10.5 M | Very Good CPARS
This project was for the construction of a 4-level, 800+ space precast parking garage. Work included roadway modifications, demolition, landscaping, utility relocation, site improvements, lighting, an elevator, security system, fire protection, and ATFP measures. The structure consists of concrete pile foundations, precast structural and wall members, and reinforced concrete slab. The work was extremely complex due to the its size and two active roadways on each side of the construction site, but our project team kept a flexible schedule and work hours to ensure the base personnel and visitors were not burdened by construction.
Parking Garage Expansion
West Palm Beach VA, FL
$9.0 M | Outstanding CCASS
This project consisted of the design and construction of an additional 400 spaces to the current pre-cast parking deck at the West Palm Beach VAMC. The addition was tied into the existing 3-tier parking garage and surface lot through insertion of special foundations to allow for the additional load bearing columns that were underneath the current structure. These foundations included helical anchors and micro-pilings. The project schedule consisted of very detailed phasing and off-hour work to minimize the impact on the existing parking garage. The addition also utilized the existing ramp and North Entrances, while recreating a new South Entrance. We also repaved the section of adjacent campus loop road.
East Access Road/Campus Security
Tuscaloosa VAMC, AL
$2.80 M
The project was a two phase construction process of a new access road, covered canopy, and decorative landscaping. Phase one consisted of clearing, grading, and construction of a new access road around the perimeter of a new facility. Work was performed in close proximity to two other ongoing construction projects being constructed by the VA facility. Close coordination with the other contractors, especially during deliveries and major activities, was necessary to keep the three projects on schedule. The new road included a stone base, asphalt paving and curb and gutter. Storm drainage and utilities were closely coordinated and installed so as to not interfere with existing utilities. Numerous parking areas and a new parking lot were provided throughout the access road area. Phase two consisted of a new covered canopy and parking area. The canopy included extremely detailed and elaborate trim requirements. Everything provided closely matched the existing finishes of the building so as to look as if it had always been there. Construction of the two phases was closely coordinated so that access to the facility was never interrupted.
